This is a project developed in personal context, which aims to find the potential through innovation
in an industry that is under-viewed in India.

INTENTIONS

Jute is the cheapest available natural fibre, majorly found in India. The industry was once contributing maximum to the national GDP, but currently due to synthetic substitutes it has lost its value. My intention is to revive the industry that is beneficial from its roots till its recycle.

Co-Kreations is a jute manufacturing company that has seen a periodical transition in this industry since its inception. Being close to this company, it is my challenge to innovate in this industry and add extension to the product line.

APPROACH

To innovate in any industry it is my belief to understand the industry from its roots. In the current market, Jute is majorly used in the packaging industry whereas the fibre properties has its benefit beyond its existing way of usage.

So, the study started with understanding Jute from the fields. I tried analyzing the methodology of Jute plantation followed by its fibre extraction process. Succeeding to this, I examined the way the fibre is transformed into a fabric in the mills. This process included involvement from the industry people.

The following study helped me to differentiate types of Jute and its properties to connect them with different industries by their current usage.

This is an on going project. I started it from India and now I am applying a Pan-Disciplinary approach with an intention to revive the Jute market and thus the company, Co-Kreations.

INFOGRAPHIC

While working on this project, I participated in Creative Camp which was held in Milan by Regione Lombardia and Politecnico Di Milano, where I presented my business proposal.
