BRIEF

This was an internal project developed at the University.

The focus was to make advancement in the existing University Library and turn into an Interactive Learning Center.

APPROACH

A library survey was made to understand few demographics like locality, convenience, technology and communication. Different set of questionnaires were prepared to interview librarians and students.

While interviewing the students, intention was to understand:

  • Their perception about library and how they
perceive an ideal place to be.

  • Convenience in engaging with librarians.

  • The difficulties they faced, in case of any
    non-availability of information.

For librarians, the intention was to understand:

  • Their internal communication pattern and
    the technology upgradation.

  • Interiors of the library building

The students in the university communicated with the co-ordinator for any enquiries. But the co-ordinator of the departments did not have access to the library database. So in case of any specific enquiry from any student regarding the library service, it was unknown to them and led to a lot of chaos.

The suggestion was to encourage involvement of this three-way communication.

SOLUTION

  • To form a network between librarians and the
    co-ordinators of all departments.

  • This would support students to connect, share and learn through library by its database and space.

  • To help across different streams of students for their project, library became a meeting point and the
    co-ordinators could make arrangements accordingly.

  • The library can be used for learning, interaction and fun purpose with maintaining its core discipline.

  • Students can use the learning centre not only as library but also as an interaction center.
